What is Thai-Yoga Massage?

Thai~Yoga massage is an ancient healing art with origins in Ayurvedic Medicine, Yoga and Buddhism. It has evolved into a unique and magical combination of gentle rocking, deep stretching, rhythmic compression, soft-tissue manipulation, energy balancing, and acupressure. A Thai~Yoga massage session differs from a Therapeutic Massage in that it is conducted on a thick pad on the floor, and the client remains fully clothed in loose pants and a comfortable shirt. A traditional session lasts 2-hours and consists of dynamic and fluid combinations of techniques that move, stretch and twist the client while they are positioned on their back, front, side and sitting cross-legged on the floor.

History of Thai-Yoga Massage

The art of Thai-Yoga Massage was developed over 2500 years ago by the physician to the Theravedic Buddhist order of monks and nuns in Northern India. When the monks and nuns migrated from India to Sri Lanka, Loas, Cambodia, Burma and Thailand they brought this knowledge with them. What began as a method of facilitating deeper meditation practices has evolved into a healing tradition with a spiritual message of compassion, patience and awareness.

Benefits of Thai-Yoga Massage

Thai~Yoga massage affects the entire body by increasing flexibility, releasing both deep and superficial tension, enhancing the body’s natural energy flow, and promoting inner peace and a quiet mind. Most clients report that following a session they feel taller, more graceful, more integrated, and experience an exquisite sense of freedom in their body. They glide away feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!
